Written by US cardiologist Dr William Davis. “Wheat Belly” is a very readable book in which Dr Davis exposes the harmful effects of what is actually a product of genetic tinkering. Until I read the book I had no idea just how much wheat grain had changed in the last 50 years. Dr Davis believes that wheat is the primary driver of today’s obesity epidemic and he makes a strong case for the elimination of this grain from our diets.

Then this is the book for you! “Eat that Frog” takes this saying as a metaphor for tackling the most challenging task of the day and the one you’re most likely to put off but which will probably have the greatest positive impact on your life. Great, practical advice.
A brilliantly written and very witty and entertaining book which looks at how we have been duped by the medical profession and the pharmaceutical industry about cholesterol and fat. It seems the impact on our health might have been seriously overstated. Dr Kendrick exposes the truth and reveals how high cholesterol levels don’t cause heart disease, how cholesterol levels are not affected by a high fat diet and the protection provided by statins is so small as not to be worth bothering about for most men and women. All his arguments are fully backed up scientifically.
Dr Briffa is a medical docotor and has written an excellent overview of why conventional diets do not work, how the advice given causes the body to resist weight loss and how we are doomed to failure.
He looks at the reasons why weight is not just about calories but the impact of our food on key hormones, mainly insulin and leptin and how we should eat to optimise their function. He examines the type of exercise we should be doing and why aerobic exercise has little impact on weight loss.
An excellent read for optimising health not just weight.

Full of inspirational flavours that will transform everyday foods. Totally different to any other cookery book I’ve read recently.
This is an excellent book written by Rebecca Richardson, herself a candida sufferer. It is packed with delicious, tasty recipes all accompanied by full colour photos. Although primarily aimed at the candida sufferer all the recipes are wheat, gluten, dairy, yeast and sugar free and are useful for anybody with dietary restrictions and food intolerances. A real bonus in this book is the resource section with web links for suppliers of ingredients. Often sourcing suitable ingredients is one of the hardest parts of following a restricted diet.
I have recommended this book to many clients who have found it an invaluable resource when faced with the challenge of making such huge dietary changes.
